12 July 2016- start of Northern Europe adventures- arrived in Oslo to sunshine and a fairly mild temperature in the low 20's. Had to discard heavy coats quickly. Hotel is very central and looks to be good. Caught express train in from airport and hotel is near central train station. Did brief walk around environs- look across at the Opera House and water. Lots of Christmas trees and greenery and lots of people wearing shorts and shirts- suspect their expectations of summer are less than ours. Shared an early dinner of pizza and salad and purchased Oslo Pass as seemed good value. Early night- vainly trying to stay awake until 9 by watching Norwegian TV. Early impression is that is very easy to be English speaking tourist- everyone speaks perfect English.
