Day 16- Lyon- caught 'auto bus' from Annecy to Lyon. Easy trip- just under 2 hours. Hotel is very comfortable - crazy bathroom- some architect gone mad but is very nice and has a club area ( what they call it) where you can get cold drinks and nibbles all day and relax in comfortable chairs. It is
across the road from the Rhone River which we can see from our balcony. We went for a walk this afternoon to the peninsular area between the Rhone and Saone Rivers including Place Bellecoeur . Lovely area- lots of shops, old buildings etc. searched out the 2 best known eating streets to check out places for dinner while circling one of many old churches- Saint Boneface or something according to Stephen- (?) Also saw the Foubtain in the d' Jacobins and their rather spectacular stock exchange building. We ended up eating in Merciere which is a gorgeous atmospheric street full of restaurants. The weather is stunning- sunny and warm so the evening was full of people sitting outside. Lovely city on first impressions - many buildings remind us of Paris- similar style.
